LumbarAZ Pain Centers is proud to offer our patent pending procedures designed for the treatment of chronic pain. Our team is dedicated to providing advanced, safe and effective care. With this goal in mind we developed procedures that work with our body's own healing agents, not against them. Our technique has proven effective for treating inflamed nerve tissue without affecting the body's own ability to produce Cortisol. In fact, our technique is synergistic with the body's own Cortisol. This unique attribute allows for continued treatments without adverse side effects or patient safety concerns.

Our doctors inject one of our patent-pending combinations utilizing a Low-Dose Steroidal anti-inflammatory or an ultra low-dose steroidal. These combinations of medication attack inflammation, scar tissue and misfiring of the nerves. By reducing the risk of adverse side effects we are able to treat more areas in a single procedure. This allows for treatment of the entire source of the pain and provides better longer lasting results. Fluoroscopic guidance ensures we precisely target the origin of the pain. Our procedure does not require sedation so we are able to interact with the patient, assisting our physicians in ensuring that they are affecting the pain and are truly targeting the source. We deliver the highest standard of care and have developed innovative procedures that are fast and virtually painless, yet highly effective in helping our patient's reduce their dependence on life altering pain relievers. It is our goal that every patient is pain free prior to the conclusion of the procedure.

AZ Pain Centers' patent pending procedures utilizing their proprietary blend of medications have proven to be a safe and effective treatment for a wide variety chronic pain conditions. The treatments target the source of the pain. Studies show that the doctors at AZ Pain Centers are consistently achieving results far higher than the national average for interventional pain management. Migraine Headaches, Spinal Pain and Joint Related Pain are routinely treated with great success by the innovative team at AZ Pain Centers.

AZ Pain Centers works diligently hand in hand with primary care physicians, chiropractors and physical therapists to achieve the best result possible for their patients. Each patient is assessed and careful consideration is given in choosing the right procedure utilizing the right combination of our proprietary medications. Extreme effort is taken to minimize a patients discomfort during the procedure. We take pride in our Comfort Technology that allows the patient to avoid sedation and the associated risks.

Comfort Technology was designed by our Doctors to help make advanced pain intervention procedures more comfortable for even the most sensitive patients. The medications and the techniques used by AZ Pain Centers were developed to eliminate pain, not cause more.

The Physicians at AZ Pain Centers searched the globe to find advanced methods for eliminating pain. During our research we discovered exciting new techniques and devices that we incorporate into our regular treatment protocols to add both safety and comfort.

As an added benefit we use these techniques for every procedure we do, which is why many of our patients describe our procedures as “just a little pressure” or “nothing at all”. This amazing benefit you’ll find only at AZ Pain Centers.

Facet JointsFacet injections are the most common non-surgical intervention for relieving pain in advanced cases. Spinal facet joints are synovial joints. Like the shoulder and the knee, spinal facet joints have a joint capsule lubricated with fluid and abundantly innervated by a network of pain-sensitive nerve fibers. These joints are prone to injury, deterioration and inflammation.

Facet JointsSpinal facet joints sometimes become sources for chronic neck and back pain independent of inter-vertebral discs and spinal nerves. The pain from these inflamed joints can easily radiate into the extremities. They become particularly vulnerable when the inter-vertebral disc is injured due to trauma (such as whiplash) or when degeneration is present. AZ Pain Centers treats these joints bilaterally and in multiple levels plus potential trigger points, successfully reducing many types of debilitating pain.

• Steroidal and Low-Dose Steroidal Facet Blocks

A facet joint injection is an injection of steroid medication into a facet joint (spinal joint) to reduce pain caused by inflammation of the facet joint. An injection may also be made around the small nerves that connect with the facet joint to help determine if the joint is the source of pain. In many cases, damaged facet joints are not the cause of back pain.

• Steroidal Epidural

An epidural steroid injection is an injection of a long lasting steroid combined with a local anesthetic into the epidural space. The medication travels up and down the epidural space to coat the spinal nerves and the facet joints near the area of the injection.

• Satellite Ganglion Blocks

A satellite ganglion block is a test to diagnose and treat sympathetic dependent pain in your hand, arm or shoulder. The pain may come from the nerves in your neck near the spine. These nerves control sweating, heart rate, blood vessels, pupil dilatation, movement of food through the intestines and many other body functions. Sometimes these nerves do not work right and cause pain. It can be on either side of your body. Learning more about the cause of your pain helps your doctor decide on the best treatment for you.

• Large and Small Joint Injections

Joint Injections are injections of long lasting steroids ("cortisone") in the facet joints - which are located in the back area the spinal bony structure. These joints are actual joints with joint capsule that contains lubricating fluids. Facet joints are paired (one on each side) and are present from the top of the cervical spine in the neck all the way down and through the lumbar spine in the lower back. Common causes of facet joint pain include arthritis, degenerative disease of the spine, and trauma. In the absence of injury or accident, the most common cause for facet mediated pain is degenerative disease of the spine or arthritis. Therefore, older patients are more commonly afflicted with facet joint pain. In whiplash injuries of the neck, commonly seen in motor vehicle accidents and other traumatic events, the cervical facet joints can be traumatized, and this can lead to chronic neck pain and headaches.

• Tendon and Ligament Injections

Tendons and ligaments are the connective tissue that connects bones and muscles. A tendon is the tissue that connects muscle to bone and a ligament connects bones to other bones. These soft tissue structures may become inflamed and painful. Injecting an anesthetic agent (and/or other agents) decreases pain and inflammation. Your physician determines the specific agents used in each injection, with consideration given to your particular problem.
